Few musical artists have reached the level of success and platitudes heaped upon Bruce Springsteen. He has been setting the music scene on fire for the past 40 years. Bruce Springsteen was born on 23 September 1949 into a blue-collar family in Freehold, New Jersey. He started to play in local bands around New Jersey, notably with the Castiles, Earth, Steel Mill and Dr Zoom And The Sonic Boom. Later he settled as the Bruce Springsteen Band with David Sancious – keyboards, Gary Tallent – bass guitar, Clarence Clemons – saxophone, Steven Van Zandt – guitar, Danny Federicim – keyboards and Vini Lopez – drums. In 1972, Bruce Springsteen signed a record deal with Columbia Records. A number of his New Jersey band mates entered the studio with him (they later became known as the E-Street band) and his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. was released in 1973. The album was heavily compared to Bob Dylan and Van Morrison. Bruce Springsteen became one of the best rocker in the world, he has won many Grammy Awards and an Academy Award. His most famous albums are Born to Run and Born In The USA. Stay with the chords for beginners! Also see: Gospel easy guitar chords.

I come home in the morning
   G            Em                     C
I go to bed feeling the same way

Hey there baby,  I could use just a little help
D
You can't start a fire                   C
You can't start a fire without a spark
                        Am C
This gun's for hire
                               Am                   G
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
G  Em  G  Em...
Message keeps getting clearer
Radio's on and I'm moving 'round the place
I check my look in the mirror
I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face
Man I ain't getting nowhere
I'm just living in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere
Baby I just know that there is
D  C  Am  C...
You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Em                             G
You sit around getting older
C                                      D                    Em
There's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
                                           G
I'll shake this world off my shoulders
C                            D
Come on baby this laugh's on me
G  Em  G  Em...
Stay on the streets of this town
And they'll be carving you up alright
They say you gotta stay hungry
Hey baby, I'm just about starving tonight
I'm dying for some action
I'm sick of sitting 'round here trying to write this book
I need a love reaction
Come on now baby gimme just one look
D  C  Am  C...
You can't start a fire
Sitting 'round crying over a broken heart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
D  C  Am  C...
You can't start a fire
Worrying about your little world falling apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark  (2x)

G                                                                 C                                      D
In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream
G                                                                        C                      D
At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines
C                                      G
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
                 C                                    D                            C
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin' out over the line
                                        G
Oh, Baby this town rips the bones from your back
C                            D
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
               C                             Am
We gotta get out while we're young
             C                       D                            G
`Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run
G C D G...
Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
and strap your hands 'cross my engines
Together we could break this trap
We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back
h-Oh, Will you walk with me out on the wire
`Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider
But I gotta know how it feels
I want to know if love is wild
Babe I want to know if love is real
F                                                              Am
Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
         C
Girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
             Am                    D
And the boys try to look so hard
            F
The amusement park rises bold and stark
               Am
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
              C
I wanna die with you Wendy on the street tonight
          Am                  D
In an everlasting kiss
G C D G...
The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
but there's no place left to hide
Together Wendy we can live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul
h-Oh, Someday girl I don't know when
we're gonna get to that place
Where we really wanna go
and we'll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
baby we were born to run
G               C                       D
Whoa oh Whoa Whoa Oh Whoa
                                G
Whoa Whoa oh Whoa Oh Oh Oh Oh
G               C                        D
Whoa oh Whoa Whoa Oh Whoa
                                 G
Whoa Whoa oh Whoa Oh Oh Oh Oh.
