How to play chords in "Sting" songs as a beginner?
Sting's songs are offering a rich and rewarding experience for guitarists, combining rock, jazz, and world music influences. His music often features sophisticated, yet accessible chord progressions that challenge beginners and intermediate players to focus on accuracy and rhythm while also enjoying the creativity in his song writing.
Songs like "Fields of Gold" use simple chords such as Em, C, G, and D, yet the beauty lies in playing them smoothly and with feeling. The song’s gentle, flowing rhythm requires precise chord transitions and a soft strumming technique, helping players develop a more nuanced touch on the guitar.
Another great example is "Shape of my heart" which incorporates open chords like A, E, F#m, and D, but in a fingerpicking style that focuses on playing each note cleanly and in time. Stay with the "Chords for Beginners" for more Sting songs like: "Englishman in New York" or "Desert Rose".
