Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin. They are known for their moody and melodic brand of guitar-oriented rock. The rock quartet is composed of Chris Martin – vocals, piano; Jon Buckland – guitar; Will Champion – drums and Guy Berryman – bass guitar. They came together as undergraduates at University College London in 1996. All four shared a passion for music and quickly started playing as a group. Coldplay released six successful albums so far. Coldplay have achieved great success with their singles, such as Yellow, Speed of Sound, the Grammy-winning Clocks and the US and UK no. 1 single Viva la Vida. The band have won a number of music awards throughout their career, including eight Brit Awards, winning Best British Group three times, five MTV Video Music Awards and seven Grammy Awards from 25 nominations.
