Johnny Cash was born in
1932 and began playing guitar and writing songs at age 12. During high school,
he performed frequently on a radio station. Johnny Cash moved to Detroit in his late teens and
worked there until he joined the air force as a radio operator. He got his start with Sun Records in 1955. His first recording at,
"Cry Cry Cry", was released, meeting with reasonable success on the
country hit parade. His next record, "Folsom Prison Blues", made the
country Top 5, and "I Walk the Line" was number one on the country
charts. After that he released several popular albums with great success. He
sold over 50 million albums in his nearly 50 year career and is
generally recognized as one of the most important musicians in the history of
American popular music. Johnny Cash also received multiple Country Music
