ZZ Top is an American rock
band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. ZZ Top members
include: Billy
Gibbons – lead vocals, guitar; Dusty Hill – bass guitar, vocals; Frank Beard –
drums. Since the release of the band's
debut album in January 1971, ZZ Top has become known for its strong blues roots
and humorous lyrical motifs. Their musical style has changed over the years,
beginning with blues-inspired rock on their early albums, then incorporating
new wave, punk rock and dance-rock. They reached the peak of their success in
the 1970s and 1980s, scoring many hit songs during that era; but they remain
together today and are still touring and releasing albums. In 1983 the band
released the album that brought him worldwide fame: Eliminator. The songs Gimme
All Your Lovin, Legs and Sharp Dressed Man are huge tubes and make the group
one of the leading bands of the eighties. As a group, ZZ Top possesses 11 gold
records and 7 platinum records, they have sold over 50 million albums
