Eric
Clapton was born on March 30, 1945 in Ripley, Surrey county – England. He is a
British guitar player and composer, nicknamed slowhand. He is generally
considered the world's premier living guitarist. Eric Clapton is one of rock
music’s quintessential guitarists. Years before he released an album under his
own name he was already an iconic figure on the British music scene. He played in
bands such as The Yardbirds, Cream and Blind Faith. During his career, he
experimented with many musical forms, including rock, pop, reggae, and even
techno-jazz. However, he always seemed to find his way back to his beloved
blues where his music is fueled by a life filled with personal struggles and
tragedies. Clapton has been the recipient of 18 Grammy Awards, and the Brit
Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. In 2004, he was awarded a OBE
(Order of the British Empire) at Buckingham Palace for services to music. Stay
