Nightwish is a great symphonic metal band, formed in 1996 in the small town of Kitee, Finland. In May 1997, Nightwish signed a recording contract with Spinefarm for two records. That August, the band went to the studio and recorded four new songs. The single called "The Carpenter" made it to no. 8 on the official Finnish Singles chart. "Angels Fall First" was released in early November and went no. 31 in Finland. Present band members: Tuomas Holopainen – keyboards; Marco Hietala – bass guitar, male vocals; Floor Jansen – female vocals; Emppu Vuorinen – guitar;  Jukka Nevalainen – drums, percussion and Troy Donockley – uilleann pipes, tin whistle. The group is the most successful Finnish band worldwide, selling more than 8 million records and receiving more than 60 gold and platinum awards, having released five Number 1 albums and thirteen Number 1 singles.
