Tina Turner is an
R&B, pop, rock and soul singer. She was born as Anna Mae Bullock, in 26
November 1939,
Brownsville, Tennessee, USA. In her early teens,
this enduring artist was a regular performer in St. Louis’ nightclubs when she
was discovered in 1956 by guitarist Ike Turner. She joined his group as a
backing singer, but quickly became the co-star and featured vocalist. Turner is
best known for her scorching performances with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue
and for her remarkable solo comeback in the middle of the 1980s. She released
her debut solo album, Private Dancer, in 1984. It was a a huge success, garnering
three Grammy Awards and selling more than 20 million copies worldwide. Later
albums include Break Every Rule,
Foreign Affair, and Wildest Dreams. Tina Turner has been
termed the most successful female rock artist, winning eight Grammy Awards and
selling more concert tickets than any other solo performer in history. Stay
